im new, only have one deck but the maker hand-paints every card and tucks in a note. felt so personal, saving this thread

thats such a sweet detail, a handwritten note really changes how a deck feels in your hands. thanks for sharing even as a newer reader 💛

slight tangent but this thread made me count my decks, somehow i have four indie ones i barely use. no regrets, the money went to real people, just a note to self that buying from a maker and actually reading the deck are two different habits lol. ill post the two i return to later.

two i keep coming back to: a watercolor deck by a tiny maker whose cards feel hand-breathed, so soft the images never shout at you. and a botanical one where every minor has a real plant worked in, which taught me the suits better than any book did. both ship slow but with so much care.

the botanical one sounds right up my alley. back reading after thirty-odd years away, a deck teaching the suits through plants sounds perfect. thank you

dont usually join these. ill name one. bought an indie deck last year, guy does stark black-and-white linework, no borders or guidebook, just the cards. thought the missing booklet would annoy me. opposite happened. forced me to look at the image instead of flipping to the keyword. reads harder, means more. money well spent, straight to the artist.

the note thing gets me every time 🥺 keeping a list from this thread, gonna buy one a month. thank you all 💜
