a habit i cant seem to break. i pull my cards, get a clear answer, and within an hour im back shuffling to 'check' it. i know the re-asks are usually just anxiety wanting a nicer result. but is a second pull ever legitimately useful, or does re-reading always muddy the water? how do you decide when one pull is enough?

i want to poke at one piece, the idea that re-reading is always anxiety. i dont think thats fair to yourself. theres a real difference between re-asking the same question hoping for a softer answer, which yes is usually fear talking, and asking a genuinely new question the first pull opened up. if i pull on 'should i take the job' and get a clear yes, asking again an hour later is just me bullying the cards into a maybe. but if that yes makes me realize my real worry is 'will i burn out there,' thats not a re-read, its the next honest question, and it deserves its own pull. my rule of thumb, if the second question is the same one in a nervous costume, put the cards down. if its a new question the first answer surfaced, go ahead. you clearly already know the difference, youre naming it yourself. trust that.

this is enormously helpful and im going to formalize it for myself, because you named the exact seam i couldnt find. so, two tests before i reshuffle. first, the question test. is this the same question in different clothes, or has the first answer genuinely raised a new one? second, the outcome test. am i hoping for different cards, or am i curious about a different thing? if im hoping, im done, the cards already spoke. if im curious, the follow-up earns its place. i think my whole problem has been collapsing those two into one nervous motion, i get an answer i dont love and my hands are shuffling before my mind has even formed a real second question. naming the step in between might be the whole fix. going to try sitting with the first pull for a full day before im allowed to touch the deck again. thank you, genuinely.
